Potomac River Fishing Report - 26 August 2010

It didn't take long this morning to hook up with a nice chunky Potomac River bass. The bass inhaled my bait and took off like a freight train. After a couple of very strong runs the bass tired and I was able to lip it. The bass was a beautiful dark green and was shaped like a football. Today the water temperatures were around 80 and we caught some nice bass using chatterbaits and soft plastics. The bass are fat and very strong right now and they put up quite a battle getting them to the boat. The full moon and resulting higher tides coupled with the stained water from recent rains are making locating hungry bass a challenge this week. The bass are spread out and you will need to take you time and fish slowly to find them. Grass edges that have current and baitfish activity are key to locating the bass. With cooler temperatures on the way the bass fishing will be getting better and this next week should be a great time to get out on the water.

I am available to guide you right now to some fantastic Potomac River bass fishing.
