Potomac River Fishing Report - 13 November 2011

We started out today with winter clothes on and finished the day with all jackets in the Ranger storage lockers. WOW! What a day! We caught 35 bass in what turned out to be a magnificant day on the Potomac River. The bass ranged from 1 - 3 lbs and were all beautiful green with vivid black stripes. They put up strong fights and many times went airbourne. We caught bass all day long from 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM. The best bite today came on the first three hours of the incoming tide in the afternoon. The water temperature ranges from 54-56 degrees and the bass are seeking warm water areas now. When you find them right now they are bunched up and hungry. Baits that are working well are chatterbaits with gold blades and chartreuse/white skirts and green pumpkin plastics worked slowly on hard cover. There is still some very healthy milfoil in some areas of the Potomac but the bass appear to be abandoning the grass and seeking rock and wood structure. There's still time to get out on the river and have some fun catching fat chunky Potomac River bass. See you on the water!
